Ask Dr. A™ – They are in Wheel Space 16. Are they a good fit for the job?

By: Dr. Michael Abelson

Question for Ask Dr. A™:

Someone is in DISC Wheel space 16. The job requires them to be detailed oriented and do a lot of repetitive tasks. On a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is the best fit, how good of a fit is this person to the job?

Ask Dr. A’s Answer:

Based on the characteristics of someone in DISC Wheel space 16, they are primarily people-oriented, creative, and big thinkers who excel in collaborative environments. They thrive on interaction and often prefer roles that allow them to engage with others and express their ideas.

However, the job you described requires a high level of detail orientation and repetitive tasks, which may not align well with the natural tendencies of someone in space 16. They may struggle with the monotony and lack of dynamic interaction that such a role entails. Their strengths lie in creativity, problem-solving, and motivating others, rather than in meticulous, repetitive tasks that require sustained focus on details.

On a scale of 0 to 10, where 10 is the best fit, I would rate this person around a 4 or 5 for this specific job. While they may be able to perform the tasks required, it is likely that they would find the work less engaging and may not excel in it compared to roles that align more closely with their natural strengths.

To enhance their fit for such a role, consider providing opportunities for collaboration, regular feedback, and perhaps incorporating elements that allow for creativity within the repetitive tasks. This could help maintain their engagement and effectiveness in the position.

If you're looking for a more tailored approach to understanding their fit and potential development areas, the Abelson assessments could provide valuable insights.
