If I asked you two weeks ago “who is Folarin Balogun?” you would have probably looked at me like “a deer in headlights,” shook your head or shrugged your shoulders, and said “I don’t know.” If you follow what’s happening in the World Cup competition, you know exactly who he is. He is the headline of every sport media because of the political chaos surrounding him. So, what is this person’s DISC and how is he reacting to all this attention? Compare how he did in the “Round of 16” to the description of him below.
Folarin is a highly sought after “striker” and player for the USA World Cup team. In fact, several countries in addition to the USA, including England and Nigeria, were vying for him to join their team. When you watch his play you will see he is extremely aggressive and competitive, takes risks shooting for the net frequently, and constantly puts defenders under pressure to stop him. A very obvious “D” dominant. He is also very energetic, optimistic (ie. some of those less obvious shots at the net), and driven by momentum and his emotions. A very obvious “I” influencer, but not as intense as his “D.” Don’t expect much “S” or “C.” He is high risk and aggressive (not “S” traits at all) and seems to be much more instinctive and explosive (not “C” traits) than calculating and analytical. Expect him to thrive on the attention and not back down from interviews. He may be selective when he engages, but he will engage.

If you want to see a fairly intense “D” and “I,” just watch a YouTube video or some other video when he has the ball. Fun to watch because of all the aggressiveness, action, and risky moves, as well as the explosive nature of his play. Let’s hope the current politics around him doesn’t supersede the coverage of his quality play and detract from him as the incredible athlete he is.
