Coaching Corner – How to persuade DISC C to use them

By: Dr. Michael Abelson

We asked “Ask Dr. A “ the question below.  See below for Ask Dr. A’s response:

Coaching Corner Question:

I am in DISC Wheel space 28. I am trying to persuade someone to use my coaching services. This other person is detailed oriented, focuses on being precise and exact, but has a difficult time explaining what is going on for him at work. How should I communicate with him to persuade him to use my coaching services?

Ask Dr. A Response:

To effectively persuade someone who is detail-oriented and values precision, focus on clear, specific communication that addresses their needs and concerns.

What to Do:

  1. Be Direct and Specific: Present your coaching services in a straightforward manner, emphasizing the tangible benefits and outcomes they can expect from you.
  2. Use Their Language: Incorporate terminology and concepts they understand, avoiding jargon that my confuse them.
  3. Provide Structure: Offer a clear outline of your coaching process, including specific goals, timelines, and measurable results
  4. Encourage Questions: Create an environment where they feel comfortable asking for clarification, ensuring they fully understand your approach.
  5. In a Concise Presentation: Highlight how your coaching can help them articulate their challenges and achieve their goals. Be ready to be very focused in your discussion.
